This is not a race!  Choose from a 10, 23 or 40 mile bike ride on scenic roads through the Wellsville/Alma country side.  You should be in good shape and capable of riding these distances before you come on the bike ride; and you should be prepared to ride several hills.  This event is for those 6 years of age and older; all 6-12 year olds must be accompanied by a parent.   The event begins and ends at the Wellsville High School; busing is available to the Jones Memorial Hospital Finish Line Arena at the Shear’s Big Hill Farm.

    2 Mile Walk

      Check-in: 10:15 - 10:55 AM
      Bus leaves: 11:00 AM

The 2 Mile Walk is entirely paved, geared for a casual, shorter walk. It finishes at the intersection of Alma Hill Road and Reddy Road and offers the option to continue the last 3 miles of rugged trail to the Finish Line Arena.  This optional 3 miles is the last section accessed by all the other walks and the 15 Mile Julie Taylor Ogden Memorial Trail Run.  There are climbs and descents, but you should have plenty of company if you opt to continue.

The 6 Mile Walk starts on a forest road then onto a rugged trail.  After following and crossing a short section of paved road, the trail continues North-West on more forgiving terrain until it passes through the Reddy Road Aid Station.  Three more miles to the finish!

Celebration of Praise takes place at the 6 Mile Trailhead.
      Check-in: 8:30 - 9:00 AM
      Bus Leaves: 9:10 AM

    9 Mile Walk

      Check-in: 8:15 - 9:30 AM
      Bus leaves: 9:45 AM

The 9 Mile Walk covers forest trails and footpaths, and is designed for experienced walkers and hikers only. The course climbs 800 feet in 3 miles and gradually rises 200 additional feet before it joins and crosses the 2 mile walk. This course can be challenging and somewhat rocky. The prettiest and most remote areas in Alma Township are featured in this walk. Be prepared to spend up to 3 hours on the trails.

A cutoff time of 1:30 PM will be enforced at Reddy Road Aid Station. Anyone coming through after 1:30 PM will be asked to be shuttled to the finish line.

      Check-in: 10:30 - 11:30 AM

      Bus Leaves at 11:50 AM

15 Mile Trail Walk/15 Mile Julie Taylor Ogden Memorial Trail Run

      Check-in: 7:45 - 8:10 AM
      Buses leave: 8:15 AM

Welcome to the Ridgewalk's most challenging trail! Push yourself or casually walk this terminator trail. It features steep, rocky, and sometimes wet sections, as well as significant climbs and descents of 800 feet or more.  The reward is the awesome beauty on a clear day while negotiating wild, remote and challenging footpaths that wind you slowly northeast to the finish line. Extra hydration is a must, so carry a bottle of water.  For most, at a moderate pace, this scenic course will take up to 5 hours to complete. Don't worry; 6 aid stations with be along the way!

A cutoff time of 1:30 PM will be enforced at Reddy Rd. Aid Station. Anyone coming through after 1:30 will be asked to be shuttled to the finish line.

    • jo_82Julie Taylor Ogden had been a prominent area distance runner since 1980 and would gamely race any distance from 5km to the marathon.  While attending Alfred State College she set several school records and won national titles as a member of the Track and Cross-country teams.  A top competitor in past Ridgewalk races, Julie decided to give back to the event by volunteering in 2007.  Working closely with Trail Chairman Steve Chaffee, the two quickly became friends and soon thereafter fell in love and began a new life together.  Fate would shorten their bright horizons when Julie lost a desperate battle with cancer on January 28, 2010.
